Collection Day

The morning of Saturday 31st May 2003. Thought I was clever by being third in.

Then had to wait for everyone behind me to load up so we could get out.

Gave me a good chance to have a walk around and talk to other virgin Hoodies.

All the kits ready to be collected that day, luckily mine was near the front so we were ready to start loading after handing over the money to Gina. On the day I also decided to get a 30 litre fuel tank while I was there as they looked a lot neater and gave more boot space.

My mate Ian trying out the Robin Hood demo car for size.

What can I say, we had a lot of spare time.

As soon as we got back all the bits were laid out and checked again to see if it was all there. Had one scary moment on the way home when a strap came loose on the motorway and we nearly lost the carpets. Note on the left of the picture is Ians Corsa rally car. The race was now on to see who could finish their car first.

Trying it out for size. I can’t count the number of times throughout the build that we have sat in the car and dreamt of the day it will be finished. It seemed a long way of the first time. That’s me on the left of the picture, trying out the ‘quality’ Mountney steering wheel. That will be changed though for the blue and black leather steering wheel I have waiting to go on.
